Cast Iron CAD takes physical products from concept through design and engineering into manufacture. The work is engineer-led, with in-house specialism in plastics and metals. A typical project covers concept development and industrial design, mechanical engineering and design for manufacture, and the 3D CAD and technical drawings behind them. It ends with a defined manufacturing handover: production drawings, bill of materials, DFM-validated CAD, supplier engagement and first-article inspection, so the factory has what it needs to quote and build. Clients are mostly SMEs, funded startups and crowdfunding creators across Sussex and the South East. Projects have covered consumer products, IoT devices, industrial equipment and bespoke builds. Founder and Technical Director Dave Lock has over 25 years in product engineering and has delivered more than 280 products through Cast Iron CAD since 2010.
