In addition, our latest survey revealed a significant impact on marketing budgets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"496\" height=\"279\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.blog.production.sortlist.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2023\/10\/1.png\" alt=\"How much money are European companies spending on their marketing budget in 2021\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Across Sortlist\u2019s core markets \u2013 this includes Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, and the Netherlands \u2013 almost <strong>half of the surveyed SMB (47.0 %) <\/strong>stated that their <a href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">marketing budgets<\/a> for the year 2021 <strong>will be smaller compared to 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevertheless, <strong>one out of four business owners (23.7 %) said their marketing budgets increased for the year 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An additional 19.7 % said that no final budget decision had been taken at the time of the survey. 7.4 % said their budget has remained unchanged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"section-635248e508573\" class=\"gutenberg-block gutenberg--section\" style=\"background-image:url();\">\n        <div Netherlands<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to our survey, <strong>one-third of SMBs in the Netherlands (30.0 %) will see their marketing budgets grow in the year 2021.<\/strong> Most budget increases will be in the range of 11-25 %.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.blog.production.sortlist.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2023\/10\/5.png\" alt=\"How much money are Dutch companies spending on their marketing budget in 2021\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This means that <strong>25.0 % of surveyed companies plan to spend between 10.000 and 100.000 \u20ac on marketing in the current year.<\/strong> Another quarter aims to invest between 5.000 and 10.000 \u20ac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Netherlands has the highest rate of SMBs with a growing marketing budget <\/strong>and the lowest rate of reduced investments across the surveyed countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>39.0 % of SMB owners stated they\u2019ll invest less.<\/strong> Another 23.0 % hadn\u2019t taken a decision yet when surveyed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"section-635248e50858a\" class=\"gutenberg-block style=\"font-size:23px\"><strong>Spain<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spain is coming in second in terms of growing marketing budgets. <strong>20.8 % of SMB owners said their investments<\/strong> in the area<strong> will increase.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"496\" height=\"279\" style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Most increases will be between 6 and 25 %. Hence, most <strong>SMB marketing budgets will amount to around 1.000 \u2013 10.000 \u20ac<\/strong>, with one-fifth of them going up to 100.000 \u20ac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spain is close to the EU-average when it comes to steady or shrinking budgets. <strong>44.0 % of business owners said their marketing budget will decrease<\/strong> and 7.0 % of marketing budgets will stay unchanged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>20.0 % hadn\u2019t taken a decision at the time of the survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"section-635248e5085a3\" class=\"gutenberg-block gutenberg--section\" style=\"background-image:url();\">\n        <div class=\"overlay\" style=\"background-color:\"><\/div> \n    <div class=\"gutenberg--section__wrapper wrapper\">\n        \n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:23px\"><strong>Germany<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>One out of four German SMBs will have a growing marketing budget <\/strong>at their hands in the current year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Planned marketing investments for the coming year are on average higher in Germany than in Spain. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"496\" height=\"279\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.blog.production.sortlist.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2023\/10\/6.png\" alt=\"How much money are German companies spending on their marketing budget in 2021\" class=\"wp-image-398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.blog.production.sortlist.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2023\/10\/6.png 496w, https:\/\/cdn.blog.production.sortlist.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2023\/10\/6-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 496px) 100vw, 496px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Almost <strong>one-quarter of German SMBs will spend between 10.000 and 100.000 \u20ac on marketing <\/strong>in the coming year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>German entrepreneurs will see together with Dutch SMB owners the fewest marketing budget cuts (39.0 %). Investment decreases and increases will mainly be between 6 and 25 %.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"section-635248e5085dd\" class=\"gutenberg-block gutenberg--section\" style=\"background-image:url();\">\n        <div class=\"overlay\" style=\"background-color:\"><\/div> \n    <div style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:23px\"><strong>Belgium<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roughly <strong>one-fourth of Belgian SMBs (22.4 %) will see their marketing investments grow in 2021.<\/strong> This means that over a quarter of SMBs will have a marketing budget of around 1.000 \u2013 5.000 \u20ac at their disposal, with another quarter going up to 100.000 \u20ac.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"496\" height=\"279\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.blog.production.sortlist.cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2023\/10\/3.png\" alt=\"How much money are Belgian companies spending on their marketing budget in 2021\" 4.1 % said their budgets will remain the same and 19.4 % hadn\u2019t taken a decision yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most decreases will remain in the area of up to 25 %, increases will mostly fall into the range of 6 \u2013 25 %.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div id=\"section-635248e5085f2\" rate of cuts<\/strong>, according to our survey. 14.0 % of French SMBs will see their marketing budgets grow in 2021.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"496\" height=\"279\" conducted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, <strong>60.0% of French entrepreneurs said their marketing budgets will shrink in the current year.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This adds up to one-fifth of budgets falling into the range of 1.000 \u2013 5.000 \u20ac and another fifth of 5.000 to 10.000 \u20ac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Next to how their budgets are impacted, we asked almost 500 SMB owners where they\u2019ll invest their marketing money in 2021. The third place is a neck-and-neck race between social media, brand, and positioning as well as traditional advertising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The websites recently created by the German agencies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sortlist.be\/fr\/agency\/formlos-berlin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">FORMLOS Berlin<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sortlist.be\/fr\/agency\/chaerry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">chaerry<\/a> showcase how much user experiences can differ based on the needs and expectations of the users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FORMLOS Berlin created a barrier-free website for the NGO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hi-deutschland-projekte.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Handicap international<\/a> for a budget of 25,000 \u20ac which allows users with different abilities to access the same information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chaerry Digitalagentur implemented an entirely different user experience for a large-scale school project in Berlin. The website for <a href=\"https:\/\/kiezstory.berlin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">kietz:story<\/a> is meant to motivate children to explore the history of their neighborhood and document their findings online.
